Bigtrak slowly edges forward on comeback trail
Had one of these. We’re quite bored of having to ironically pretend everything we had as a child was good, but Bigtrak WAS good. Especially after the subsequent Christmas when we got the trailer attachment.
It got left out in the garden and went haywire, refusing to obey commands, so had to be smashed up and buried. According to Pocket-Lint, Biggie will be back this summer, for 30 quid.

Bigtrak! It was good.
Mine died in a semi-deliberate down-the-stairs incident. I’d programed it to go round various furniture, out of the room, along the hall (with TWO CORNERS), dump about two hundred ballbearings outside parents room on the landing, U-turn for the stairs and down the stairs. I had very little expectation of success, but in a thousand to one shot it made it.
I’d followed it (slowley of course) and could have prevented the stairs dive, but after such an epic three minute journey I didn’t have the heart to stop it while it was still going about it’s business. I remember this occasionally as an example of wishing that my 10 year old self hadn’t been such a bloody fool :(

I used to set mine to wait under the dining room table for minutes at a time, then fire it’s laser and come charging out. Scared the shit out myself after I’d forgotten about it on more than one occasion.
I also used to program zig-zag patterns to herd the cat into the corner.
Fuck rocket launchers, they should do a vacuum attachment and some collision detectors to make housework more interesting. A website for Big Trak floor cleaning webcam pictures. There’s ‘niche’ for you.

I never had one. I didn’t even know what it was until Mass Effect reviews kept mentioning it. Guess I’m ever so slightly too young. Was all Transformers and Paul Daniels Magic Sets when I was becoming sentient.
Paul Daniels Magic Sex.

I had one of these as a kid too. It was awesome. I begged and begged for it after seeing the ‘tomorrows world’ woman showing it off as ‘the future’. I got the trailer for my following birthday. (or bigtrak transport as we experts call it). Eventually I bust the wheels off it and used its excellent large 4xDcell battery compartment to hig cigarette ends and bangers in. Looking back its not the end BIGTRAK (he needs capitals dammit) deserved.
One other piece of tedium in this crushingly boring narrative – last year I became so desperate to ride the wave of nostalgia just that big further that I actually bought a BIGTRAK on ebay to re-live the magic. I was so excited, but my wife summed it all up really once it arrived – “Is that it ? Thats what you’ve been going on about”. Ah BIGTRAK. Happy times…

I’m also too young to have experienced bigtrak. Manta Force, Ghostbusters and Micro Machines was my childhood. But I might get one this time round, being the retarded manchild that I am. They look like fun.

I so wanted one of these when I was a youngling. With today’s technology though I think they’ve been a bit pusillanimous in not making it iphone compatible, given it bluetooth, or put a webcam in it as standard. You could probably make something more exciting out of lego these days.

Unshaven…..or in this case ‘un-spliced’

Youngling? I thought it had been decided that Star Wars (the new films at least) was shit and then you go and use the word ‘youngling’.
You’ll be wittering on about midichlorians next

I was using it in an ironic way, I asure you. My feelings on the first three Star Wars episodes are in line with those of Tim from Spaced, though I didn’t burn all my SW toys.
Anyway why have they had to make this smaller? Bigger would have been better, so I could travel to work on it.

Power to the Tonka Trucks! That was the most sophisticated toy I had as a nipper. That and a lump of coal of course.
