Sony is now is such a state of crisis you can see how it thinks.
It thought "Nintendo has made lots of girls like cute games. Let's capitalise on this by releasing a pink PlayStation2".
The pink PS2 - for the cute/girl demographic Nintendo invented, only a year too late. It's this sort of behind-the-curve thinking that will see PS3 limp to a miserable third place in the next-gen console war, even when Sony has the idea of doing a pink PS3 for girls in 2010.

Why is it a year too late? The PS2 is now perfectly positioned for such a thing that will help keep the console looking healthy for many years to come after your GC and Xbox is long forgotten about.
This is only seen as a bad move or "copying" to some nobody trying to spin a news story for the sake of spinning a news story.

As much as I hate Sony right now, I must state that they released a pink PS2 in Japan about 2 years ago. It was the old fat style unit, and it was called Sakura(cherry blossom). It was still shit though.

At the risk of siding with the anonymous dude at the top (as such, you may call me "twat two"), I really do think that the PS2 has a couple of years left in it yet.
There are a lot of people who will've bought the mini-ps2 in the last year and they're not gonna throw it away just because the PS3 comes out. Also, many people will wait for either the PS3's price point to drop or for the first console revamp before they move to PS3. There will, therefore, be a demand for ps2 games over the next couple of years and it's stupid to suggest that nobody will attempt to meet this demand by supplying a couple of games.
So assuming that people *will* be using the Ps2 for a couple of years...and girls do love pink things...it seems only mildly stupid.

Maybe the article isn't completely serious, or it's meant to be amusing, but they probably still mean what they say, right? They're still making a point. Or am I just pointing out the obvious.
Anyway, one of my friends wants to get a pink PS2, so I guess it isn't a completely useless idea. She says pink electronics and such are good in that they won't get stolen, whether it's in the sense of actually being robbed, or when a boyfriend or brother comes over and start playing some silly man-game on it (lol), so you can have it to yourself 24-7. I agree about the problem that there aren't many girly/cute games to play on the PS2, though... 'Whoo, my console's pink. Now to go blow the heads off some Nazis. Yeah.'
